Webinar features Latinx faculty members and how their books advance inclusiveness

Three Latinx faculty members — Michael Méndez, assistant professor, urban planning and public policy and author of "Climate Change from the Streets: How Conflict and Collaboration Strengthen the Environmental Justice Movement"; María Rendón, associate professor of urban planning and public policy and author of "Stagnant Dreamers: How the Inner City Shapes the Integration of Second Generation Latinos”; and Laura E. Enriquez, associate professor of Chicano/Latino Studies and author of "Of Love and Papers: How Immigration Policy Affects Romance and Family" — were featured in an Oct. 15 webinar, "Toward Social Justice - New Books by Latinx Scholars" during which they discussed ways to advance social justice and inclusive policies for Latinx communities.

The webinar, hosted by Douglas Haynes, vice chancellor for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and sponsored by the School of Social Ecology, School of Social Science and the Office of Inclusive Excellence, included comentary on the faculty members' books by Cecilia Menjivar, professor of sociology and Dorothy L. Meier Social Equities Chair at UCLA; Manuel Pastor, Distinguished Professor of Sociology and American Studies and Ethnicity at USC; and Laura Pulido, professor of geography and Ethnic Studies Department Head at the University of Oregon.
