The Department of Urban Planning and Public Policy includes 17 faculty members, approximately 75 master's students, and 35 doctoral students.

The department's faculty are engaged, active scholars, including past presidents of the Environmental Design Research Association, the editor of the Journal of Regional Science, and members of the American Institute of Certified Planners.

Students in the Master's of Urban and Regional Planning program have interned for agencies as diverse as the California Coastal Commission, AIDS Services of Orange County, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. 

UPPP alumni hold positions in planning departments, public agencies, private firms, nonprofit organizations, and research universities throughout California and beyond.
