Water expert Maura Allaire joins Department of Urban Planning and Public Policy

The Department of Urban Planning and Public Policy welcomes Maura Allaire, who will be joining as an assistant professor.

Allaire specializes in water resources economics and policy. She addresses global water issues – ranging from climate adaptation in megacities to the food-energy-water nexus in the United States. Using statistics, optimization modeling, and economic valuation methods, she analyzes how a better understanding of the linkages between economic and natural systems can improve decision-making and management practices.

She holds a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and B.S. from Tufts University.  Her professional experience spans the public and private sectors, including international organizations (the World Bank and the International Water Management Institute), a think tank (Resources for the Future), and a consulting firm (AMEC).
